Watching IPTV on your iPhone or iPad is simple — the iOS App Store has quality IPTV players, and setup takes under 5 minutes once you have your subscription credentials. Your iPhone also works great as a secondary screen to your main TV setup, or for watching on the go.
What you need before starting
- iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 or later (any modern device works fine)
- An active IPTV subscription — your provider will give you an M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials (server URL, username, password). Don’t have one yet? See our best IPTV providers ranking or check out IPTV Elite Pro, our top-rated pick for US viewers.
- An Apple ID — required to download apps from the App Store
- A good Wi-Fi or 5G connection — minimum 10 Mbps for HD, 25 Mbps for 4K
Best IPTV apps for iPhone and iPad in 2026
IPTV Smarters Pro (recommended for beginners) — Free on the App Store. Clean interface, full Xtream Codes and M3U support. The most widely used IPTV app on iOS.
GSE Smart IPTV (best for power users) — Completely free, no ads. The most feature-complete option on iOS with multiple decoder options, iCloud sync across all your Apple devices, AirPlay support, and Picture-in-Picture. Best if you also have an Apple TV — playlists sync automatically. See our IPTV on Apple TV guide for the TV-side setup.
iPlayTV (best interface) — Paid (~$5.99). Beautiful Netflix-style layout, excellent 4K playback, designed specifically for the Apple ecosystem. Worth the cost if you watch regularly. See our full best IPTV apps comparison for every platform.
Step 1 — Install your IPTV app
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad
- Search for your chosen app (e.g. IPTV Smarters Pro)
- Tap Get or the price button
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password
- Wait for the download — opens from your home screen
Step 2 — Add your subscription with Xtream Codes (recommended)
If your provider gave you a server URL, username, and password, use Xtream Codes. It loads channels progressively and automatically sets up EPG. See our full M3U vs Xtream Codes guide for more detail.
In IPTV Smarters Pro:
- Open the app → tap Add New User
- Select Login with Xtream Codes API
- Enter your server URL, username, and password
- Tap Add User — channels load within 30–60 seconds
In GSE Smart IPTV:
- Tap the + icon → select Xtream Codes API
- Enter your server URL, username, and password
- Tap Add
Step 3 — Add your subscription with M3U URL
In IPTV Smarters Pro:
- Tap Add New User → select Load Your Playlist or File/URL
- Paste your M3U URL
- Give it a name → tap Add User
In GSE Smart IPTV:
- Tap + → select Add M3U URL
- Paste your URL and tap Add
Step 4 — Set up EPG
With Xtream Codes, EPG usually loads automatically. If it doesn’t:
In IPTV Smarters: Settings → EPG Settings → enter your EPG URL → Reload EPG.
In GSE: Tap your playlist → EPG Sources → Add → paste your XMLTV EPG URL → tap Done.
Watch on your TV with AirPlay
If you have an Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV, you can stream from your iPhone directly to the big screen:
- Start playing a channel in your IPTV app
- Swipe down from the top right to open Control Center
- Tap Screen Mirroring
- Select your Apple TV or AirPlay TV from the list
GSE Smart IPTV has dedicated AirPlay support — full-screen streaming with no quality loss. IPTV Smarters works via standard Screen Mirroring.
Same credentials across all Apple devices
Your Xtream Codes or M3U credentials work on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV simultaneously (up to your subscription’s connection limit). GSE Smart IPTV with iCloud sync enabled will automatically share your playlists and favourites across all your Apple devices — add a playlist once and it appears everywhere.
Quick troubleshooting
Failed to Authorize — Re-enter credentials by copy-paste. Check subscription is active in your provider’s portal.
Black screen on some channels — In GSE, go to Settings → Player → Decoder → switch to Software decoder. Fixes H.265 compatibility issues.
Buffering on 4G/5G — IPTV on mobile data is speed-dependent. Check your connection speed and lower stream quality in app settings if below 10 Mbps.
EPG not showing — Force a manual EPG refresh and wait 5–10 minutes for the guide to populate on first load.
