TiviMate is the most powerful IPTV player available in 2026, but it can be overwhelming to configure from scratch. This guide walks through the complete setup — from adding your first playlist to tuning every setting that matters for smooth playback.
Step 1 — Install TiviMate
TiviMate is available directly on the Amazon App Store (Firestick) and Google Play Store (Android TV, Shield, Mi Box). Step 2 — Add your IPTV subscription
Open TiviMate for the first time. You’ll see the welcome screen with a prompt to add a playlist. Don’t have a subscription yet? See our best IPTV providers ranking.
Option A — Xtream Codes (recommended):
- Tap Add Playlist → select Xtream Codes API
- Enter your server URL (include port number, e.g.
http://server.example.com:8080) - Enter your username and password — copy-paste from your provider’s email
- Tap Next → wait 60–90 seconds for channels to load
- Name your playlist → tap Add
Option B — M3U URL:
- Tap Add Playlist → select M3U Playlist
- Paste your M3U URL
- Wait for the import — large playlists can take 2–5 minutes
- Name it and tap Add

Step 3 — Configure EPG
With Xtream Codes, EPG loads automatically. For M3U playlists:
Settings → Playlists → your playlist → EPG → paste your EPG URL → tap Update EPG now.

Step 4 — Optimize playback settings
These are the settings that make the biggest difference in day-to-day performance:
Buffer size — Settings → Playback → Buffer size → set to 10 seconds. Absorbs brief network hiccups without stopping playback. If you still see buffering, see our full buffering fix guide.
Player engine — Settings → Player → Player Type → ExoPlayer. Handles the widest range of stream formats including H.265.
Video decoder — Settings → Playback → Video Decoder → start with Hardware+. If you get black screens on some channels, switch to Software — see our black screen fix for more detail.
Tunneled Playback (Firestick only) — Settings → Playback → Tunneled Playback → Off. This feature causes black screens on channel switches on Firestick 4K. Always disable it.
Auto Frame Rate — Settings → Playback → Auto Frame Rate → Off (unless you specifically want your TV to switch refresh rates for each stream). Leaving it on can cause brief black screens on channel changes.
Step 5 — Organise channel groups
If your provider includes 50,000+ channels, most of them in languages you don’t watch, you can filter the groups TiviMate imports:
Settings → Playlists → your playlist → Groups → uncheck any categories you don’t need (e.g. Arabic, Turkish, adult content). TiviMate will stop importing those groups, making the channel list faster to navigate.
Step 6 — Add favourites
Long-press any channel → tap the star icon to add it to favourites. Your favourites list appears at the top of the channel list for quick access. You can create multiple favourites groups (Sports, News, Family, etc.) in Settings → Favourites.
Step 7 — Add a VPN if you have throttling issues

TiviMate Premium — is it worth it?
TiviMate Premium costs around $5/year and adds: recording live TV, managing multiple playlists simultaneously, parental controls with PIN, and extended catch-up TV features.
For most users, the free version is sufficient. Premium is worth it if you want to record live sports or have multiple IPTV subscriptions on one device.
